Wet-stock management
A major petrol Forecourt Managed Service (FMS) provider wanted to move to mobile connectivity to provide petrol tank readings so that it could accurately schedule tanker deliveries.
Using mobile connectivity had the potential to address a number of issues:
- It meant that the readings were not dependent on the franchisee providing connectivity
- It would mean that it was in full control of its end to end service
- It would be significantly cheaper and faster than installing a dedicated internet connection
However, the company recognised that it needed to have one standard solution that could be factory fitted and shipped anywhere in EMEA. That meant it had to work on any mobile network, as no one network could guarantee coverage at every forecourt location.
Eseye proposed its AnyNet solution, which would do exactly what the name suggested, enable, the forecourt management system to connect to any network – if there is mobile coverage, then the system can connect.
Furthermore, Eseye can remotely update the SIM to switch the operator(s) to which could be used. This provides two key advantages:
- If an operator has provided consistent coverage for a period of time, the SIM can be switched to use only that operator, thus reducing costs
- If new a operator emerges, the SIM can be updated to use that operator, future-proofing the solution
And all this without requiring a site visit.
So the gained end to end control of its services, provide a better service to its customers – the oil companies – all for under 10% of the cost of installing a dedicated link.
Eseye is working with the company’s development team to examine how to further drive down data requirements by using solutions such as Eseye's Serval service, and so further reduce costs
