Eseye Nominated for Smart Metering Awards 2012

Eseye has been nominated for an award for the new Pelican PV (Solar) electricity meter at the 2012 Smart Metering Awards.
The Pelican is a 'ready to install' PV/Solar meter and is a joint project between Eseye and White Solar.
White Solar have combined all of the necessary metering components from ABB into one IP55 enclosed box. So it comes pre-wired and pre-tested so is quick and easy to install. The Pelican integrates with the PVMIG software for superior PV monitoring and maintenance diagnostics.
Eseye have provided the connectivity to this new meter via its embedded AnyNet SIM which is soldered into the modem at the point of manufacture.
Embedding the AnyNet SIM in this way means that Eseye have given the meter life-long connectivity from before it even leaves the factory. The AnyNet SIM is completely network agnostic so it can be switched to any network at any time. This ensures competitive call charges can be maintained so the meter can be run at optimal cost over its entire life time.
It also means a reduction in the financial risk created by the uncertainty inherent in such long-term investment projects such as solar electricity generation. The AnyNet SIM can be transferred to a new customer should the meter be sold onwards. So the initial customer is not committing to paying for connectivity they longer want. The new customer also has the reassurance that they can choose which network to run the meter on. There is no need to exchange the SIM.
So the new Pelican meter is a real step forward in PV metering - fingers crossed for the awards!
