Fixed Real World IP

Fixed IP SIM cards are required where the remote unit needs to be available to receive incoming connection from the Internet.

In order to determine if a real world fixed ip is needed, There is one simple Question :

“Where is the traffic originating from?” or said differently, “Which end is the first to initiate the connection?”

  • Mobile Originated – Remote device makes first communication. A remote device initiates an out-going data connection. This connection could be to a host application at headquarters (HQ) or a remote server (Real world Fixed IP not required)
  • Mobile Terminated – Host makes first communication. A host application at HQ requests information from the remote devices and/or workstations. In this case the remote site must be listening for the IP connection. Common applications include telemetry, SCADA and other forms of polling. (Real world Fixed IP will be required in this case)
  • Both Mobile Originated and Terminated. E.g. telemetry applications where the host polls the remote while the remote is able to proactively send out alarms. (Real world Fixed IP might be required in this case)

Eseye has fitted each one with a cellular modem and connectivity with a fixed ip SIM card using our APN.

The hirer is given the ip address and logon details. Using a web browser they can connect to the sign where ever it is, and update the messages.
