Standalone modems
Many devices still use standalone analogue PSTN modems – and these can cost-effectively be replaced by cellular modems. Without application changes, the system will operate in circuit switched data mode i.e. when data is to be transmitted, the modem will dial a phone number, expecting to communicate with another dial up modem. This is a slow and expensive solution that ultimately offers little operational benefit.
However, a GPRS modem can offer a more effective option for communication with a remote host. When the modem detects there is serial data to be transmitted, a GPRS connection is used to transfer the data. This is far more cost-effective and far faster. If inbound connections are required, Eseye's unique Fixed IP solution can be used to ensure a connection is always available.
So cutting the cost of rarely used, dedicated telephone lines can be thing of the past using Eseye's solutions.
