MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS

There are a number of different mobile communication protocols that Eseye can support :

  1. GSM based cellular networks offer packet data connectivity (GPRS) through either the GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN) or the UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (UTRAN) commonly known as 2G and 3G. 3G networks offer much higher speed connectivity, but at the cost of more expensive modems. Eseye provides a single interface for both 2G and 3G connections.

  2. Both 2G and 3G networks can be used for voice calls and circuit switched data (CSD). These calls are charged by the minute.

  3. For applications that require small data packets to be sent infrequently, communication by SMS or USSD may be more appropriate. Whilst SMS is a familiar technology, USSD allows short messages to be sent at lower cost, and with guaranteed delivery but only to the home network.

Eseye support all of the above protocols and can advise on the best option for your product and usage scenarios.
