Eseye PathMaster Overview

A low-cost, highly secure DSL and cellular routing solution. Eseye’s PathMaster gives end-to-end security while significantly reducing the operational hassle of connected solutions. It provides a VPN tunnel across the DSL connection while Eseye manage the secure cellular connection, allowing an automated, easy to use and simple to implement product providing secure and reliable connectivity. PathMaster is a new addition to the suite of services Eseye offers, these include: Hardware as a Service (HaaS), Device Verification and Security Audits. Eseye’s services have been designed to ensure our customers are excellently equipped for easy management of their connected devices. pathmaster web How does the PathMaster work? Eseye’s APN and the HERA router are in frequent communication via the VPN on the DSL. Should the DSL be unavailable both the HERA and the APN will note the lack of responses and not send any data through. The data will be sent over the secure connection in the cellular networks. The HERA router will continue to try to contact the VPN concentrator, and as soon as the data is received and acknowledged all data will be sent by the DSL route again. For some solutions Eseye may be able to offer configurable settings for the failover from DSL to GSM. These settings include size, type, and urgency of the data. This could prevent extremely large and non-urgent packets from being sent over the higher cost GSM networks. Benefits There are four main benefits of PathMaster over other DSL and cellular solutions these are, cost, security, simplicity of implementation, and ease of use. PathMaster reduces the risk of many costly occurences. With Eseye proactively managing both the connections and the HERA router the probability of needing costly engineer visits is greatly reduced. For devices which rely on connectivity to make money, using PathMaster as a failover solution maximises the amount of time the device is connected. PathMaster ensures that the transmission of the data is always secure, using a VPN over the DSL and carefully managed over the cellular connection. Other ways of connecting a device via DSL, including through port forwarding, are susceptible to malicious interference as they can forward all data through to the device. PathMaster ensures that the device only receives data through the Eseye APN which in turn authenticates the source. The PathMaster solution is able to be implemented with minimal fuss and effort. With all settings pre-configured the HERA router only needs connecting to the wired internet and devices before use. PathMaster is configured to manage the transmission path of data automatically. Although it is possible to manually test and select whether to send a packet of data over GSM or DSL from the office, this would take time and effort. PathMaster selects the correct path both to and from the device without any extra work needed from staff or the device. The solution offers great resilience, as the availability of the GSM connection provides failover and complete backup, with Eseye tracking the availability of DSL. This solution is available with AnyNet Managed connectivity and HERA600 and HERA800 routers or third party routers.
