Summer Interns
“Eseye's atmosphere was very friendly, and I found the work environment to be a good mix of "relaxed" but "competent". Working on the software development team, I had the opportunity to independently build some brand new features as part of two different projects.
These were quite flexible and open-ended, and although the work was mostly independent, there was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get help from experienced developers. The first project involved building a prototype authentication, authorization and accounting server to lay the groundwork for the company to move over to a new type of networking protocol for a particular set of connections.
I worked in Golang (my first time using it, but this gave me a chance to learn the workings of it at a reasonable pace), but I could have done it in C instead. The second project was on the frontend, in which I had very little experience, but thoroughly enjoyed it. A fun, quite open-ended task to create a new map feature. Again, I had the opportunity to learn React JS and frontend development at a reasonable pace, without the pressures of deadlines. Overall, I definitely learnt a lot!”
Eseye is an amazing company with an extremely supportive environment and a close-knit feel between colleagues. During my time, I had an opportunity to delve into topics of my interest and learned any skill I could think of! This ranged from using Linux based systems to coding and producing end to end pipelines with AWS. I really enjoyed my placement here and thank you so much to Paul and the rest of the technical consulting team for making me feel so welcome!

My summer internship at Eseye as a Hardware Intern was both an incredibly rewarding and a great learning experience. I was tasked with designing and building a demo device for Anynet SMARTconnect, which required me to create a PCB integrating a Raspberry Pi Pico, modem, and several I2C devices. I went on to develop FreeRTOS C code to interface with SMARTconnect on the modem and a variety of sensors, collecting their data and sending it to the cloud.
Throughout the 8-week internship, I gained invaluable hands-on experience in hardware design and embedded programming, while being guided by a friendly and knowledgeable team. Their guidance played a key part in my learning process, helping me to take what I had learned at university for use in a real-world project. I would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone seeking practical experience that complements their academic knowledge
