Deploying IoT
Devices Successfully
You have the vision. Let us be the guide. Learn how Eseye helps you deploy IoT globally and at scale.
Introduction
In today’s digitally connected world, organizations increasingly need to ensure their IoT devices stay connected, wherever they are in the world. Every percent improvement in effective cellular connectivity translates directly into the provision of service into the device and in the transfer of data from the device back to the Enterprise, creating competitive advantage and an increase in commercial return. The end goal for any organization is to achieve as close to 100% uptime for any IoT device, globally.
To get the best results from your IoT deployment, you need to ensure every detail of your project leads directly to your desired business outcomes. In short, you need an experienced partner who has done it all before, many times. And this is exactly where Eseye Deployment Services come in. Our Service Delivery team leverages the best practices we have learned from being involved in the successful delivery of over 2,000 IoT projects during the last fourteen years. By using the knowledge and experience gained during these projects, our team ensures that Eseye can help you optimize all elements of your project – people, process, and technology – to successfully deliver your project on time, on budget, in a way that meets or exceeds your project KPIs.
The benefits of working with an experienced IoT partner like Eseye is as much to do with getting advice on what to do, as well as what not to do. In this document, we’ll start by outlining common challenges we have encountered in deploying IoT projects and then outline a high-level description of the deployment process we will lead you through – from working alongside our Technical Consultancy team through to validation and device optimization, onwards to manufacturing and in-service deployment, to ensure a successful implementation that achieves your business objectives now and in the future.
Throughout this process, our team will work with you to establish and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure and reflect the success of your IoT project and the business outcome it has delivered.
Challenges with Deploying IoT
When embarking on an IoT project, it is important to fully explore and understand the possible technical constraints and risks relating to the project requirements and how the device will be used in-service. The type and configuration of the IoT device, along with the associated connectivity solution, affect the build, so making the right procurement choices is fundamental to the project’s long-term success.
We all encounter challenges when doing something new for the first time. At the start of your IoT project, it is difficult to foresee every hurdle that may occur throughout your journey and obstacles that could prevent you from successfully achieving your business outcomes. Of course, unless you have done it before and overcome these challenges, it is nearly impossible to second-guess what those could be.
Eseye can help you with this – here are the key benefits our Deployment Services offer and why they should be considered.
Our experience of helping customers deploy their IoT projects has shown the following common issues.
- Understanding and thorough testing to ensure the IoT device best interfaces with the AnyNet + SIM and Connectivity Management Platform.
- Modem timer reset impacting the ability to initiate a fallback IMSI, or with the latest AnyNet+ SIM, the rotation to another IMSI.
- SIM Tool Kit is not correctly configured on the device modem - preventing the ability to run the applets on the SIM that allows our Connectivity Management Platform to function correctly.
- Full testing of customer application code and compatibility with the modem settings, to ensure that a complete scan of all allowable mobile networks does not adversely impact connectivity uptime.
- SIM logistics – SIMs are not in the right place at the right time.
- SIM lifecycle management – SIMs are not activated in time or SIMs are left activated when the device is end of life.
- Manufacturing processes – ensuring the correct SIMID to Device ID is accurately recorded.
- Device deployment process – poor deployment instructions that lead customers to believe there is no connectivity.
- Not understanding how cellular networks can impact the device ability to stay connected
As leaders in the IoT space, and with over 14 years’ experience guiding customers in IoT device design and global deployments, Eseye provides specialist technical expertise and services to ensure risks associated with global cellular IoT connectivity projects are mitigated well in advance. Let us handle the connectivity, so you can focus on your business.

Your guide through the IoT Journey
Eseye’s deployment services team is there to guide you through the deployment journey. We break the process down into three key phases, each designed to align all technical and logistical aspects of an IoT project.
Pre-Deployment
During this phase, the deployment team works closely with both the Eseye technical team and the customer’s technical teams. It is beneficial to start this phase before the production of devices begins. During this phase, we cover the following key items:
- Assign a dedicated Deployment Manager (DM).
- Conduct a Deployment Services introduction meeting to discuss business outcomes and project milestones.
- Define and agree on ideal, measurable project KPIs.
- Understand SIM stock requirements and SIM logistics.
- Understand the manufacturing process and SIM lifecycle management.
- Provide technical assistance for device changes arising from validation recommendations.
- Create a solution guide to document all key customer, device, and project information.
- Set up regular deployment services meetings.
- Ensure all commercial packages are signed and available for SIM activations.
- Ensure all technical requirements are in place for key services (IP ranges, VPN if applicable, API interfaces, SIAM access).
- Plan and complete a SIM Management portal (SIAM) overview with appropriate customer teams.
- Provide support for any questions and technical issues raised as required.
Initial commercial deployment (PoC)
This phase is designed to assist the customer during the initial deployment of devices into their production environment and allows for the following key items:
- Ensure the SIM logistics and manufacturing processes are documented and functioning properly.
- Assist in the implementation of any API interfaces.
- Create and generate appropriate estate deployment reports.
- Ensure reporting delivers key KPIs to measure project success.
- Support the customer’s educational development regarding connectivity triage and support interfaces.
Final deployment phase
This phase is designed to transition the project into full deployment and allows for the following key items:
- Introduction to the Eseye Service Desk team for reporting incidents.
- Setup of periodic and regular reviews of deployment progress and any incidents.
- Implementation of appropriate estate monitoring and Eseye platform rules.
- Transition from Deployment Services into Eseye Customer Success.
Post-Deployment Support
Our teams continue to work and support your deployment into the future, managing connectivity and giving you peace of mind.
After each successful Deployment Services engagement, the Eseye team delivers a deployment solution guide to the customer. This guide documents detailed findings from the deployment process and may include any agreed processes or specific items related to your deployment. To ensure a seamless transition to the Eseye Service Desk and Customer Success teams, the Deployment Services team ensures they receive all necessary information and introduces the primary customer contacts responsible for the project moving forward.
Expert Connectivity Management
Using the information gathered by the deployment services team, Eseye optimizes the AnyNet Connectivity Management Platform to monitor your estate's connectivity status, troubleshooting network or connectivity issues efficiently to ensure your devices receive optimal connectivity.
