Yoco is a fast-growing Cape Town-based financial technology company that provides mobile card payment devices across South Africa. Yoco’s challenge was enabling small business retailers to complete successful transactions wherever they are located by providing payment devices that are always connected and ready to go.

Yoco turned to Eseye to help develop its first standalone ePOS device, the Neo. Eseye walked them through every step of their IoT journey from device design through to device onboarding, IoT connectivity, and deployment.

Eseye’s AnyNet+ SIM cards ensure reliable, rapid 3G connectivity for Yoco’s card readers, without additional complexity and cost.

Yoco now provides mobile card payment devices to upwards of 120,000 small business owners across South Africa.

Just four months from its launch, the Neo card machine was already contributing 10% of Yoco’s total transaction processing volume, indicating how well merchants are transacting using the new device.

The Neo device boasts 99.8% connectivity uptime on average, and transaction approval rates have risen to 92-94%, compared to 86% achieved from a Bluetooth card machine.

Eseye’s global footprint, with access to over 700 networks through a worldwide alliance of mobile network operators, means that Yoco can easily expand into other markets. Yoco can overcome common permanent roaming challenges through Eseye’s network localization process and can continue to use the same SIM, with a single SKU, across all of its devices.
